sports
But alas, for the first time in a month I'm actually WORKING. Grrrr. So no rest, recuperation or ice cream for me. Just stress and anxiety subbing on the sports desk of a tabloid I never read. Eek! Sports! Me! I know nothing about sports. Should be... er... interesting? Terrifying? Both. Fingers crossed.
Despite my miserable cold, I've actually been quite sociable lately. I gave pop league a miss on Friday in order to rest up sufficiently for Saturday's big night out - my very first dot-to-dot gig! Woo hoo!
It was in an old town hall, quite grand and red and nice. It was part of some arts council sponsored festival event or something which meant it was free and recorded and also involved a very expensive looking stage set up, with fancy lighting and a SMOKE machine. Egads. Still, the sound wasn't the greatest. And the band missed its chance for a sound check by turning up a few hours late. Oops. But it was still nice to see my boys on stage, and I thought the last song was terrific. Plus, I got to be photographer for the evening, which was kinda fun. And dorky.
Sharon and the Swedes came along as well, to check out the act they blindly booked as part of their inaugural girlie club night (of which I am a part.. er.. kinda). I'm not sure if they were impressed or not. One of the Swedes said 'Well, hopefully they'll get some more practice' which is not the best sign. Ha! Ah well.
Last night I really struggled through pub quiz, going through three packets of tissues, all in the name of team spirit. Or, a chance at the £600 jackpot. Yeah, that. We lost, needless to say, coming so close it stung. Grrr. Afterwards, we all headed up to Matt's to watch a video of the gig so the boys could analyse their performance. Mmmm.
Maybe I'll munch on some Easter chocolate... which I bought myself, of course, as Richard isn't really one to celebrate the fab holiday. I staged an Easter egg hunt for him and everything but he didn't seem too excited. Ack!
Not that I can taste anything... I should eat something healthy and gross while in this state. Hmmm...
Wish me luck! Hopefully the sports boys will be kind...
