Things have settled back to normal, as much as that is possible. What a roller coaster ride! Lordy. Not only do my parents seem to have accepted the fact that I'm going through with this marriage thing, they're being somewhat helpful about it. Like, my mother brought my attention to the fact that my name is on some bank account with four grand in, which should boost my visa application considerably. Wow.

In other news, I got new glasses. They're not that much different from my old ones, but have a bit of a reddish hue to them. And are probably more boring and normal. Less trendy. Which is probably a good thing. I'm an aging hipster, me, and actually not too hip at all anymore. Why keep up the pretense?

Although, apparently, I have a baby face, and people at work think of me as some sweet young innocent. My buddy April was making some vile innuendos last night and another girl told her to stop before I became corrupted and we both snorted and told her I was hardly innocent. She refused to believe it, and later, when I swore while recounting the story of my adventure abroad (super super abbreviated version) the girl's jaw dropped. When she learned I had been kicked out of two countries and am about to get married for a visa, she seemed suitably impressed with her new lil rebel. Although she wouldn't believe I am 27 years old. Apparently I still look about 23. Ha! At least that's one thing I've got going for me.

My mom and I have started a fun little activity together. Aww, you're thinking, how sweet! Well, I duno if this qualifies as sweet - we're competing over who can make the most money on the stock exchange. She helped me navigate her stock site as I set up my own fake $100,000 portfolio, and thought my interest in the venture to be absolutely hysterical, even calling my father at work to tell him about it. The joke was on her, though, when I made nearly $3,000 in three hours. Ha! I knew mt celebdaq prowess wasn't a fluke! If only I really had $100k to invest eh?

I had a few hours free time the other day and decided to fill it by returning once again to my past - apparently, that foray into 1993 journal was not enough. A while back, while reading a horribly written yet brilliantly organised autobiography, I decided I'd try to list every person of significance in my life, with the goal of one day writing a little somehting about my experiences with each one. A daunting task, no doubt, which is one of the reasons it never made it past the idea stage.

Until now. Yup, I actually sat down for an hour or so and tried to recall every person I have encountered in my lifetime. There have been a lot. I broke it down into categories: youth, high school, college, greece, work, UK, computer, family. I flipped through old photo albums and yearbooks and address books and filled pages upon pages of names. People I hadn't thought about in ages, some I had downright forgotten about altogether, together for the very first time. Ah, the memories. It was quite an exercise, and made me really curious as to what some of these long-lost friends are up to. I'm seriously tempted to take my list down here and google search the hell out of it. Then maybe some awkward out-of-the-blue emails. Who knows, maybe a reunion or two! Hmm... unlikely, but fun to think about.

I wonder if this is what old people do. Probably. I wonder if I'll ever get to stage two of my grand idea and start writing about each and every person. Seems an awful lot of work. Even if I did just one page on each person it would fill several books. Still, it would be a great exercise. We'll see. Something tells me my inherent laziness will dictate this one.

I just got Richard's Christmas card and it made me smile. He had a little adventure of his own on Photoshop, and took a photo of my house and a photo of our hamster, and a fake santa's costume, with hilarious result. Aww bless. He also sent some Guardian magazines. Yay! Quality reading for a change.
