lemonade
So my latest two obsessions are: Swedish pop and intestinal health. Yes. The former is being coddled through this blog.
The latter was inspired by this amazing article. Richard thinks I've gone mad. I never in my life would think I would voluntarily consider an enema but... ack! Yeah. It hasn't gotten that bad, but I have been looking into all sorts of colonic cleansing home kits and herbal remedies. Also, I seriously considered this crazy "lemonade diet" cleanse technique. I even bought the necessary ingredients and tried the drink. It was okay. But I can't imagine drinking nothing but 8 glasses of it for 8 days. The smell alone would get to me. Hmmm.. reading that page has tempted me again...
This newfound health obsession also prompted me to grab this book while I was at the library the other day. It further fueled my cleansing craziness. But it was also frustrating. I've been making loads of healthy changes lately, and was rather proud of myself for my daily fruit and veg and seed and grain and yoghurt intake. Reading her book, I got even more ideas and pointers and felt I was well on my way... but some of her suggestions were ridiculous and imparctical, especially the daily menus. For instance, you should never eat proteins and carbs together in one meal. And you should eat fruit completely on its own. And although you absolutely must consume 8-10 glasses of water a day, there is to be no water while you eat; in fact, it should be consumed 30 minutes before or after meals. Egads!
In any case, I'm still aiming for more fruits and veg and seeds and whole grains and such. And vitamin supplements. And I must confess to getting some aloe vera tablets to aid the whole digestive process. Oh, and that probiotic 'friendly bacteria' shite. Am I mad? Probably. The real test will be whether I take the plunge and attempt that lemonade diet tomorrow...
In other news, the handyman finally came to fix the bath. Promptly at 8.30am on Monday. So I had to get up at the ass crack of dawn to be showered and dressed by the time he arrived. And since he didn't finish the job, I have had to do so again every morning this week in anticipation of his (unannounced) return. He hasn't been back yet... Ack! It's been very harsh. But on the other hand, it's amazing how much you can accomplish in a day when you get up early!
Speaking of which, I need to get a new doctor. And contact the letting agents about home insurance. And go to the post office. And... the errands never really end. Ack.
Should be a good weekend. A LONG weekend at that, too. Yay for bank holidays! There's potentially a picnic on Saturday, then a housewarming party. And on Sunday there's a concert with this gorgeous Swede. Droooooool. Mmmmm.
I'm off to cook with quinoa for the very first time. Wish me luck!
