I got a job I got a job I got a job! I GOT A JOB!

And it's the one I really wanted too! Wow!

I'm no longer a lazy lie-about waster! Yet I still get to lie about all morning and catch all my favourite daytime TV programmes! Talk about ideal!

Yup, I got that second interview for the trainee sub editor job at the fab commuter daily on Monday. Or at least I thought it was a second interview. In reality, however, they had decided to forego the second round of interviews and just offer me the job! But the editor strung me along for nearly half an hour, waiting for his colleague to arrive so she could do the honours. Not that I minded, because the end result was well worth it! They said I was head and shoulders above the rest! Awww yay!

The salary is fantastic, the hours are perfect, and I get FIVE WEEKS holiday, plus an additional 5 days at Christmas! Cor! I start on Monday! The sooner the better, I suppose, for the sooner I start, the sooner I get paid. Mmmm.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, Richard has agreed to move, and even broke the news to the landlord, who wasn't very happy. I don't blame him, as our lease isn't set to expire until August. But do you blame us? We've been forced to live out of one very cramped room, as the kitchen is pretty unsafe, what with half a ceiling and all. And to make matters worse, the oven has broken. It was the final straw. I think we're probably within our rights to withhold rent at this point. But instead we offered to vacate so they can fix everything properly. We're doing them a favour, right? Right!

At any rate, I've been devoting my final week of freedom to finding a flat, which is actually a full time job in itself! I must have viewed about a dozen flats so far, and have five more viewings lined up over the next two days.

The first flat we saw was stunning! It was so, so nice! A bit expensive, but we agreed to consider stretching our budget that far if we really fell in love with a place. And I think we might have. We saw it on Monday, and we haven't stopped talking about it since. It had the most gorgeous kitchen ever - brand new, with stainless steel appliances, an American size fridge, beautiful old pine table and a DISHWASHER. Luxuries we don't even need. And the whole place is just so light and spacious, with a gorgeous view and pretty nice location. Everything I've seen since has paled in comparison. I think we might take it. We've given ourselves until tomorrow to decide, allowing me to squeeze in those few extra properties, to convince myself we've made the best, most informed decision. Trying to be responsible and all that, you know. Right.

So overall things are falling together quite nicely! Job, gorgeous new home of my own choosing... I'm so giddy! I can hardly believe it could be going so well. It's a foreign concept to me.. but a welcome one. Yay!

I'm going to attempt to open a new bank account. That will inevitably knock me down a few notches. I hate banks, especially in this country, where credit is based on your address for the past 5 years, and since I haven't lived here that long I have none. Grrr.

What else? Oh yeah! I never reported back on the club night thingie! It was a great success on many levels. First of all, it was PACKED. Standing room only, and barely even that. You couldn't MOVE. It got a bit annoying, as I couldn't reach my friends to socialise and as a result spent much of the night squeezed into a corner near the toilets. Also annoying was the level of disorganisation, which I really shouldn't have been surprised about, and my DJ set. I was first on, which means hardly anyone heard it. And they were sticklers for staying within my allocated half hour, whereas they all exceeded theirs by at least 15minutes. Grrr. Also, we were promised food and free drinks, but got neither. And although they took in at least 300quid, they wouldn't spread the wealth. They almost didn't pay the band, in the end forking over a measly 50quid, or 10pounds each, which barely covered the price of drinks and a cab - which they needed to lug all their equipment, as they were told at the last minute there would be no amps as they had been promised. Ack. Doubt I'll be getting involved in any future nights.

The gig itself was great, however! Really, really great, which is good because there was a bit of pressure to perform well, as there were reviewers there and a large group of potential new fans. The sound was good, the banter was perfect, and there were even screaming girls in the front fawning over Ally. It's only a matter of time...

Time to go get ready to traipse around town, snooping around in other people's homes. Woo hoo!
